Chase McCoy chosen as KC Star's Athlete of the Week

That's right, even kickers deserve some Athlete-of-the-Week love. McCoy hasn't missed a field goal in two years, and Blue Springs needed his perfect streak to continue last Friday at Columbia Rock Bridge. McCoy nailed four field goals (29, 29, 36 and 21 yards) that gave Blue Springs a surprising 12-0 lead over the previously top-ranked team, and the Wildcats went on to win 19-14. McCoy, who also plays soccer, added an assist and goal Monday against William Chrisman in a Class 3 District 15 semifinal victory. read more...

Wildcats pay tribute to Coach Dave Bassore (1954-2006)
This season, when the Wildcats take the field, they will all be wearing a "DB" sticker honoring the memory of Kansas City area high school and college football coach, Dave Bassore.  Coach Bassore was killed in an automobile accident in April of this year.  Coach Bassore was very well respected within the coaching fraternity locally and will be missed by everyone who knew him.  Even if you only had the opportunity to meet Coach Bassore once, he was the kind of man you would never forget.  The deepest sympathies and thoughts of the coaching staff and program at Blue Springs are with the Bassore family.

The next BSHS Football Booster Club Meeting is Tuesday, August 8th at 6:30 pm in the library.

The 2006-2007 BSHS Football Season is upon us! It has been a busy summer and two-a-days start on Monday! Our website has been updated so please check out www.bshswildcatfootball.com!

Our First Annual Golf Tournament was a great success and we will be continuing it as an annual event. Hopefully it will not be so hot in future years!! Please support our wonderful sponsors by checking out our golf website at www.bluespringsgolfclassic.com before you purchase any products or services. Please support these companies as they have supported us!

Thank you to everyone who volunteered, the golf committee, Coach Neff and Coach Edwards. Each of you made the difference in this tournament being a success. If you missed the tournament this year make sure to mark your calendar and check it out for next year!

Ryan Sheehy named Academic All-Star

Recent BSHS graduate and Wildcat football captain Ryan Sheehy was named an Academic All-Star by The Examiner.  Ryan was the starting center on last year's squad.  The Academic All-Stars are the top students at each Eastern Jackson County high school.  Congratulations to Ryan and good luck as he goes on to Graceland University in Iowa.  read more...
