Cats put up little fight
From
the Examiner (Sat, Nov 10, 2007)
There is a
long-standing tradition at Blue Springs High School
where members of the football team - win or lose -
greet the fans after each game. They shake hands,
exchange high-fives and thank the fans for their
support. On some nights, it's the highlight of the
evening. On other nights, it's the toughest part of
the event. read more... |

From
the Examiner (Sat, Oct 20, 2007)
When they needed him the most, Carlos Anderson used
his legs - and his hands - to help Blue Springs get
off to a 1-0 start in district play. Anderson, the
running back who entered play at North Kansas City
High School Friday night with 18 touchdowns, caught
two first-half touchdowns from quarterback Jared
Lanpher then rushed for his third score in the
second half to lead the Wildcats to a 32-14 victory
over Oak Park.

"Give all the credit to
the changes our coaches made at the half, my
line, our wide receivers and tight ends, who
all threw key blocks," said Anderson, who
finished the night with 29 carries for 192
yards and two touchdown receptions for 108
yards.
"Carlos is amazing,"
Donohoe said after a fiery post-game session
with his team at midfield. "I'm so proud of
those guys. I told them all week that we
were coming into the hornet's nest, and
after that first half, they knew what I was
talking about.
"We made a few offensive
adjustments at the half and Jared did a
great job running the offense all night. The
holes were there in the second half, and
with guys like Carlos and Derwin (Hall) in
the backfield, all they need is that little
seam to make a big play." |

Blue Springs eats up Lee's
Summit North
From
the KC Star (Sat, Oct 13, 2007)
If Carlos Anderson is telling the
truth, the Blue Springs football team might think
about hiring his dad as the team chef. “Every
morning, on game day, my dad fixes me a big ham and
cheese omelet for breakfast,” Anderson said. “It’s
part of my routine.” The routine, and dad’s omelet,
seem to be working.

Running rampant
Wildcats'
Anderson 'feeling it' in 253-yard performance
From
the Examiner (Sat, Oct 6, 2007)
"I was feeling it tonight." That simple statement
pretty much summed up one of the greatest
performances by
a
running back in the history of Blue Springs High
School. And when you think about the list of great
backs the Wildcats have produced, that's saying
something.

Ireland happy to make return
for Blue Springs
From
the Examiner (Sat, Sep 29, 2007)
For most people, seven plays
in a football game are not that big of a deal. But
to Blue
Springs
senior quarterback Bransen Ireland, those seven
plays meant everything. Ireland - who has been out
since breaking a bone in his leg in the preseason
jamboree - was 3-for-3 passing for 62 yards,
including a 39-yard touchdown pass to Keeston Terry
in helping lead visiting Blue Springs to a 42-7
Suburban Big Seven win over William Chrisman Friday.

GAME 2 - Rockhurst 21, Blue Springs 14
Rockhurst
leaves Cats frustrated
From the Examiner (Sat, Sep 8,
2007)
"It's tough, real tough," said
Carlos Anderson, who
scored
the Wildcats' first touchdown on an 18-yard run that left tackler
after would-be tackler grabbing nothing but air.
"But all we have to do is look at what we did and
didn't do. We made some big plays - so did Rock. But
when you get the ball inside the 10-yard line two
times and come away with nothing, it's tough to even
think about winning - especially when you're playing
Rockhurst."

Ireland anticipates chance for
his return
From
the Examiner (Sat, Sep 8, 2007)
Bransen Ireland paced the sidelines like a caged
animal. Funny how a limp disappears in the
heat of battle - as a broken left leg keeps you from
starting the game you dreamed about since you first
heard of the intense rivalry between Blue Springs
High School and Rockhurst.
