Wildcats Serving Others
A Brief History of Our Senior Service Trips...
The Blue Springs Football program is proud that it has been a long-standing tradition that Wildcat seniors and coaches have had the opportunity to spend part of their summer providing much needed community service to groups outside the Kansas city area. The first trip took place in 2010 and has occurred almost every year since, despite a variety of obstacles that have popped up throughout the years.
In the summer of 2010, an assistant coach was granted permission to take all the incoming senior players on a service/mission trip to the country of Peru. A few years later, the location transitioned to Jamaica, and the program spent about 8 years taking groups down there serving the community through various things like building foundations, fixing houses, and building new houses for families in need. It even grew in the later yers to include Blue Springs South coaches and players as well in a joint effort.
When COVID hit, it became impossible to travel to Jamaica due to Jamaican and US travel restrictions. However in 2022, coaches were able to revive the tradition and took a group of seniors down to Mississippi to help a community in need down there. They spent time working with families in low-income areas and doing various service projects to help clean up facilities that served those in need. When the facility no longer was an option for 2024, the trip shifted again to Greenville, Missouri.
Regardless of where our coaches and players travel, these trips provide awesome experiences and make huge differences in the culture of our school, our district, and our community. We know our seniors look forward every year to having the opportunity to go on these trips and we appreciate all of the support and financial aid that individuals and local businesses have provided to make these trips possible over the years!

2024 Senior Service Trip - Greenville, MO
This year, BSHS coaches and senior players travelled to Greensville, Missouri, to provide some service to the community. The boys spent time painting and fixing up the high school’s football complex, and provided some physical labor for some local farmers who were in need of it.
